OHS Summer 2024 Pop-Up Garden Tours – Rideau Hall Gardens

June has arrived, and with it, the OHS Summer 2024 Pop-Up Garden Tours.
We invite you to join us as we explore the beauty of nature in two upcoming garden tours. Don’t miss this opportunity to immerse yourself in the vibrant colors and serene landscapes of summer. OHS member are welcome to bring a friend, buddy, or loved* one along for the experience. We look forward to seeing you there. (*please refrain from bringing pets to the garden tours at this time. Rideau Hall Gardens – Sunday June 9th, 1:30 pm – 3:30 pm
1 Sussex Drive, Thomas Street Entrance Gate
Rideau Hall is the official residence of Canada’s Governors General. Its sprawling grounds boast one of the nation’s most distinguished historic landscapes, with meticulously curated formal herbaceous gardens, a charming rose garden, the iconic Palm House, and a ceremonial tree arboretum.
Leading us on this summer afternoon tour will be OHS board member Tina Liu, who holds the position of Senior Landscape Architect at the National Capital Commission. She is responsible for the design and implementation of the Capital Floral Experience, a dynamic floral exhibition that graces the National Capital Region with its beauty year-round.
Our rendezvous point will be the forecourt of the Visitor Centre, at the Thomas Street entrance gate. From there, we’ll embark on a leisurely stroll through the gardens, where vibrant peonies, fragrant lilacs and roses will (hopefully!) be in full bloom, adding an extra layer of beauty to our experience.
All ages are welcome. Please wear comfortable shoes, sunscreen, and a hat, and bring a water bottle along. The site is accessible for both walkers and wheelchair users. Washroom facilities are located at the Visitor Centre.
Kindly refrain from bringing pets onto the grounds.
Free street parking is available in the surrounding neighbourhood (maximum of 3 hours), and visitors may enter on foot via Sussex Gate, Thomas Gate or MacKay Gate.
**This will be a rain-or-shine event (within reason) – no rain date is scheduled, so let’s hope the weather will cooperate. Join us in this first of a series of pop-up tours this summer in and around Ottawa.
