Celebrate Ottawa’s 200th!

The City of Ottawa is holding a family‑oriented celebration on 26 September — the Ottawa 200 Block Party — as the flagship event marking the city’s 200th anniversary. The celebration will take place at Marion Dewar Plaza (City Hall) and will feature cultural programming, musical performances, workshops, food and beverage vendors, and booths for civic organizations.

The OHS has been invited to participate, recognizing our long history — 133 years — as part of Ottawa’s civic community. We look forward to showcasing our activities and contributions to the Ottawa gardening community.

A small group of Board members has begun developing a program of activities for this day‑long event. Our focus includes highlighting the history of the OHS, sharing the reach of our community planting projects, and offering gardening‑related educational activities and information for all ages.
