Intake to Algonquin College's Horticultural Program to terminate Fall 2026

As noted in a prior News & Updates (and our internal e-newsletter The Grapevine), the Algonquin College's Horticultural Program and the associated Apprenticeship Program were among 30 academic programs recommended by Algonquin College leadership for cancellation, or suspension with the intent to cancel. The Algonquin Board of Governors met on March 2 and approved the recommendation. Consequently, intake to the horticultural programs will be terminated effective Fall 2026.

It is disappointing to see this outcome, especially given the concerns raised and the efforts made by students, alumni, industry partners, and horticultural organizations, like ours, to highlight the value of these programs. Despite this engagement, the decision to discontinue the programs has moved forward.
