Design Basics and Plant Selection

As the March meeting of the OHS was cancelled due to COVID-19,  our presenter Mary Ann Van Berlo kindly recorded her presentation and has made it available on You Tube.

You can check it out here.

Mary Ann guides us through the elements and principles of design and discusses how plants fit into the design principles and share some advice on plant selection. There are tips and pointers that we can use in our own gardens.

Mary Ann Van Berlo is an avid gardener who volunteers with Master Gardeners of Ottawa-Carleton. Her 2.4 acre garden on the St. Lawrence is part of the 1000 Islands and Rideau Canal Garden Trail. Since the trail opened in June 2015, Mary Ann has welcomed many visitors and bus tours to her garden. In June, 2017, Mary Ann’s garden was featured in Ontario Gardener Magazine.
